Welcome to PhyloGenome — where science and play come together to create a unique, hands-on learning experience. PhyloGenome is an active learning platform that combines the world of genomics with the excitement of collectible cards and strategic gameplay. Students explore genome sequencing, assembly, and annotation while developing teamwork, communication skills, and a deeper conceptual understanding of genomics.

Our Origins

PhyloGenome was born from the long-standing success of the Genome project, developed for undergraduate students at the Faculty of Biosciences of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Inspired by the open-access, crowd-sourced trading card game Phylo, we brought its engaging mechanics into our genomics project — creating a multifaceted educational experience that is both scientific and fun.
