PhyloGenome COIL is an international online learning experience connecting students from different institutions together to explore biodiversity, conservation, genomics and intercultural perspectives.
Over four weeks, mixed teams explore biodiversity in their regions, share species stories, and compare ecological, cultural and conservation perspectives. They investigate the causes of biodiversity loss and how genomics can contribute to conservation, including a team role-play to design a biodiversity-genomics project. Students then play PhyloGenome together, create original Species and Event Cards inspired by the ecosystems they studied, and present their work in a final online exhibition.
