Amazonian Manatee (Trichechus inunguis) is listed as Vulnerable based on a suspected population decline of at least 30% within the next three generations (assuming a generation length of 25 years) due primarily to ongoing levels of hunting throughout most of the region, coupled with increasing incidental calf mortality in the recent years, global warming trends and increased climate variability, along with increased economic and population growth, and habitat loss and degradation associated with fisheries and river traffic.
